Six players..
Ten were suspended. No Star Player.
New coach. A lot of issues.
This is real, not gonna tell a lie.
Remember the date - 24th of June 2012. It will be in the books of National College of Association (NCAA)
It will be in our heart, marked and will never be forgotten.
This six young players were the ones who spent more time sitting on the bench and cheering for their more experienced teammates, are now starting (and will finish) against a whole equipped team, mentored by a well experienced and champion Coach "Mr. Koy Banal"
Who would expect them to win?
US. WE DO. AND THEY DID.
All on Red and White
When the team needed the most support, the Bedan community heard their voices. I and the Bedan army shouted like there is no tomorrow, full support as they say it, with
faith and heart. Even before the game started, everyone inside the arena was in high spirit. You could see some old Bedans, dancing, cheering, laughing, and even joking around.
1st - 2nd Quarter
Arellano started the quarter like there's no way out Red Lions will win. Continuous three point shots made by team AU, and the lead even went as high as 12 points. But with Art Dela Cruz on the team, he refused to lose. He gave the needed leadership considering it is his first season playing for the Red Lions.
3rd - 4th Quarter
Now the Red Lions brought up a nice game plan. Its all about relaxing and of course PATIENCE.
"We should play no haste slowly" At this quarter Red Lions got the lead. Everyone was shocked, we didn't expect to have the lead at that point.
“When we encounter trials and hardships, we shall give you honor and fame. For nothing but these shows our loyalty clear to our Alma Mater’s name. Bring out the challenges and we will win them all” – these words are part of the Bedan Hymn and a while ago these words were lived, breathed by the six brave kids and made us all proud.
Red Lions won by 10 points (81 – 71). And those six kids won our admiration.
(From Left - Right)
Yvan Ludovice, Ritchie Villaruz, Art Dela Cruz, Dave Moralde, Francis Abarcar, Jun Bonsubre
Call it undermanned, crippled or mini team, but this San Bed Red Lion team still fought with all their
hearty even though they only have 6 players suited up for the ball game or what the San Beda faithfuls
love to call them the "Super 6"
THEY WILL BE AN INSPIRATION FOR THE WHOLE TEAM AND FOR
THE BEDAN COMMUNITY - FOR SPORTS IN GENERAL.
